Somebody has said that if you see the light at the end of the tunnel, this rather means that you turned around in the darkness without realising and what you are facing is not the exit you are seeking but the entrance you came in through… Unfortunately, this is not only a joke to lighten up the atmosphere, but for some, both cynical and disappointed, it is an attitude: instead of going ahead, instead of choosing a dynamic rush forward, they turn to the past, thus, however, wasting their effort within the tunnel so far.
We, ladies and gentlemen, we who worked for the 38th Greek and 21st International Short Film Festival in Drama are neither cynical nor disappointed, despite our difficulties and the afflictions this country and its culture are going through. We choose the light, we choose to walk ahead with the invaluable support of the hospitable citizens and the Municipality of Drama, the Ministry of Culture and our sponsors who walk along with us.
The Festival takes place for this never-failing light shining in the eyes of young filmmakers, the young directors and those who work with them, who will be in the future, if they are not already, the eyes, ears and soul of the greek society, who will record its future dreams, leading it to the exit of the tunnel, to the light. As the Artistic Director, I would like to welcome you and thank all of you for your presence in this celebration of cinema, especially the young people without whose films there would be nothing to celebrate.
