 | The Short Film Festival in Drama organizes seminars, meetings, and conferences on the art of cinema. Most prominent among them have been the Meetings Concerning the Documentary (the proceedings of which have been published) and the Balkan Meeting. The Festival does not believe in the isolation or specialization of art. On the contrary, it feels that the art of cinema in particular should keep open the channels of communication with other forms of art. For this reason, events taking place during the Festival include art exhibitions, musical concerts and literary tributes. For example, in 1999, the Festival hosted an exhibition by the internationally acclaimed sculptor Thodoros while, in conjunction with other cities that are participating in the Ministry of Culture’s National Cultural Network of Cities, it hosted an exhibition by the Rethymno Center for Contemporary Visual Creation, dedicated to contemporary Greek visual art. In the past, the Festival has hosted concerts by, among others, Wim Mertrens, Elli Paspala, Dora Bakopoulou and Savvina Yiannatou. |
