His first appearance dates back to 1972 with his short film “Two or three things…” (12’), which earned the top prize in Greece and a distinction at the Montreal Festival in Canada.

He directed the films “Cell zero” (1975), the television film “Good night mr. Alexandros…” (1981), “The Song of Return” (1983) and the award-winning film “Kavafis” (1996), which was a formal entry in the Berlin Festival (Panorama), the Toronto Festival and 50 other International Festivals.

His latest film was the international co-production “El Greco”, which broke the ticket record for Greece (1.200.000 tickets), received 8 National Awards, the GUFTAT Award, the Audience Award, the GOYA Award in Lala Huete for costumes, the Best Actor Award to Juan Diego Botto at the Cairo Festival and many honorary distinctions in Greece and worldwide. The film was an official entry in the International Toronto Festival and in many other Festivals all over the world.

He is the creator of numerous documentaries and television series. He is currently working on an international co-production entitled “God loves Caviar”.

He has also served as a Professor at the Department of Mass Media of the Panteion University of Athens, while he currently teaches Film Direction in Film Schools.
