WELCOMING ADDRESS BY THE MAYOR OF DRAMA

Drama, a city of culture and artistic creation, is hosting for the thirtieth time a very significant cinematic event, the Short Film Festival.

The "shortfilmers" are coming to Drama to meet each other, in an event that has become the most important breeding ground for new creators in our country.

We believe that the city of Drama has proven itself over all these years to be worthy and able of meeting great expectations.

Our Municipality is aiming for the Festival to expand as much as it can in its acceptance by both the local society of the citizens of Drama and the people of the national and international cinematography. We are willing to offer any support necessary to meet these goals.

In our beautiful city of Drama this autumn, I am certain that the Short Film Festival will enlighten the lives of the people, reduce their loneliness, and add more beauty in an environment of art and culture, just like we envision living in the warm and humane society that we serve.

The importance of the Festival for Greek cinematography is great. This is a means to promote the work of new filmmakers and constitutes a significant help to the seventh art.

I am certain that this year's Festival will once more be a resounding success and will do justice to its reputation.

I wish a happy stay to all the visitors of our city.
