SPYROS SIAKAS

Spiros Th. Siakas has been involved with animation since 1993. After completing his university studies in education, fine arts and graphic design he continued with postgraduate studies in animation at The Surrey Institute of Arts and Design, University College in England (MA Animation). His films have participated in numerous international festivals, having earned many awards, like the award of the International Animated Film Society (ASIFA) for his film "The Mirror Stage".

He has been teaching cartoon animation as a laboratory consultant at the Department of Graphic Design of the Technological Institute of Athens.

He has also been involved (since 1994) with the design and implementation of film animation workshops in schools and film festivals, in order to delineate methodological principles that should be applied in introducing the language of the cinema in the classroom, to be used as an instrument of expression, communication and education.

He is currently a Ph.D. candidate at the Department of Human Studies of the Greek Open University (EAP) and is preparing a series of educational animation projects as part of his Ph.D. thesis.
