VASILIS DOUVLIS

Director. Born in Ioannina. He studied Modern Greek Literature and Cinematography at the School of Philosophy in Athens and at the universities Paris IV, Sorbonne and Paris I in Paris, while concurrently attending seminars by FEMIS and the French Film Archive. He is currently working at the television station of the Greek Parliament. His short film "The veteran" received awards and honorary distinctions in Greek and International Festivals (Award for Male Actor at the 2000 Drama Film Festival, National Quality Distinction of the Ministry of Culture, 2000, Honorary Distinction at the 2001 Palm Springs International Festival), and was screened in film theaters in Athens and many other countries. His first feature film "The return" won the award of the International Federation of Film Critics (FIPRESCI) for Greek Cinema at the 2007 Festival, also received praising reviews in respectable international film magazines, such as Variety and Positif, was screened in International Festivals (Karlovy Vary - Variety Critics' Choice, Montreal, Shanghai) and was purchased by foreign television stations. In the coming months the film will take part at the Festivals of Ghent and Kairo and will be screened in New York and Munich.
