DIMITRIS CHARITOS

A critic for the cinema and the visual arts. He was born and currently resides in Athens. He studied political and financial sciences at the University of Athens. He has been working as a critic and a writer of theoretical texts about the cinema and the visual arts since the early 60's. He also writes poetry. For many years he was the general secretary and president of the Greek Film Critics Union, while from 1991 to 1993 he was also the vice president of the Greek Film Center. For fourteen years he was a member of the National Film Advisory Committee of the Ministry of Culture. From 2000 to 2002 he was the Art Director of the (at the time) International Documentary Festival of Kalamata. He has been a member of many juries in film festivals in Greece and abroad. Today he writes film critic columns for the magazines "Anti" and "Nea Estia".
