STAVROS KAPLANIDIS

He studied filmmaking in France. He lived and worked in Paris until 1976, when he returned to Greece. He has worked as assistant director in many Greek and International productions ("Alexander the Great" by Thodoros Aggelopoulos, "Loufa kai parallagi" by Nikos Perakis, "Fedora" by Billy Wilder, "Midnight Express" by Alan Parker, etc.).

Some of his films, such as "Les Amants Terribles", "Lucias", "Birds don't fly here", "Stavros Tornes", "The poor hunter of the south", have received distinctions and awards in Greek and International festivals. His last documentary "Play it again Christos" received the Audience Award at the 9th Documentary Festival of Thessaloniki in 2007.

He has been a member of the Board of Greek Film Directors, of the Advisory Film Board of the Ministry of Culture and of the Board of the Greek Film Center.
