Producer–Director. Degree in Chemistry (University of Patras), Film Directing (Stavrakos Film and Television School), MA in Communications and Film (School of Communications, Boston University), Documentary filmmaking with Richard Leacock and New Media (MIT) and later on Film Finance & Marketing (Media Business School, Spain). She is the director of the films “The king and the corpse” and “Man frames”, the short films “Waterside” and “Off scene”, (1985) and the documentary “Mill girl follies” (1986). In 1987, she directed the documentary “Dario FO in America” (which she also co-produced), won the New England Film/Video Fellowship award from the MIT Council for the Arts, sponsored by the Academy of Motion Pictures Arts and Sciences. In 1989, she founded CINEGRAM Film & TV Productions S.A. Since 1994, she has been producing numerous successful feature films, including “Touch me not” (1995) by Dimitris Yatzouzakis, which has won both national and international awards, “Peppermint” (1999) by Costas Kapakas, which has won 9 state quality awards by the Ministry of Culture and many other awards in international festivals. She has recently co-produced the following international co-productions: the many times awarded film (8 state quality awards) “A touch of spice” (2003) by Tasos Boulmetis, the long anticipated “Brides” (2004) by Pantelis Voulgaris, “A tout de suite” (2004) by Benoit Jacquot, “D’ un village a l’ autre” by Costas Natsis (2004), “Borrowed bride” (2004) by Atif Yilmaz and “Is God a chef?” (2004) by Stergios Niziris. In 1998, she was appointed Vice President of the Greek Film Centre by the Minister of Culture. She is also member of the European Film Academy, member of the BoD of PROMEDIA, as well as national co-ordinator of the European educational programme for producers EAVE EUROPE AUDIOVISUAL. In October 2002, she was elected President of the Association of Greek Independent Audiovisual Producers (SAPOE). |
