Message from the mayor

The Short Film Festival in Drama is celebrating its 25th birthday! For a quarter of a century, every September, the passion, the enthusiasm and the inspiration of filmmakers have met with warm and effective support from the welcoming city of Drama and its residents. 

The Short Film Festival in Drama has proved that it can resist the ravages of time, because its supporters are committed to protecting it from expediencies which do not serve the art of film. Moreover, the Festival asserts the verve and energy of the city's residents, whose love of culture is undeniable. Finally, the Festival constitutes a model event of cultural decentralization, a result of the perfect collaboration between the local society, the Municipality of Drama, the Ministry of Culture, the Greek Film Center, Greek State Television (ERT) and film professionals. 

I would like to thank them all for their sincere support throughout the years; their support of an institution which promotes cinema and short film directors, Greece and the city of Drama, and which grows with each passing year, winning new filmgoers and an international reputation. 

In this century that has just begun, the Short Film Festival in Drama will remain a vivid means of expression for the sensitivity and the experimental inclinations of young filmmakers, as well as a meeting point for established directors. For our part, the municipality and I personally will do everything within our power to safeguard the Festival and to keep making it better and better.
