Message from the art director

Again this year, the Drama Festival welcomes filmmakers from Greece and all over the world. 

The large number of Greek films, as well as the very large number of countries participating in the international competition, strengthen our conviction that the Short Film Festival in Drama is a prestigious institution, at the same time mature and friendly, which promotes the art of film and young directors. 

In the twenty-five years the Festival has existed, its relationship with the city has become reciprocally stronger. It is clear that important cultural institutions which are based in the provinces and are overseen by the Ministry of Culture could not survive without the significant support of Local Self-Government, as well as local society as a whole. 

The need for the founding of a State Academy or University School of Film now emerges as a dire necessity, together with the introduction of the lesson of Film in all stages of education. 

This year, the exhibition of works by the painter Alekos Fassianos and the participation of singer/songwriter Dionyssis Savopoulos give an added dimension to the cinematic event of the Festival. 

We would like to especially thank Greek State Television (ERT), the Greek Film Center and Media Desk Hellas. Thanks also to the various organizations which sponsor the Festival's awards: the Prefecture of Drama, the Greek Film Center, KODAK, Mr. Dinos Katsouridis, the Municipality of Aghia Paraskevi, and Sound Studio.
